Stephania Erecta bulbs are best sown in summer (March to July) when temperatures are consistently warm. They require a well-draining, loose soil mix (such as cactus/succulent soil) and should be placed with the bumpy side up, with only the bottom half buried.

Complete germination occurs progressively in warm conditions, with roots establishing first and fresh shoots emerging steadily from the bulb.

Once sprouted, it can grow fairly quickly and often requires support for its long, thin stems.

The plant is slow-growing. It may take years for it to reach maturity.

It is normal for the plant to lose all its leaves in winter. It should be kept dry (or with minimal watering) during this time.
